SummaryHaving prepared transition metal complexes throughout my career my knowledge base includes coordination chemistry and preparation of ligands via organic synthetic methods. Late transition metals have been the focus of the work (Pt, Ru, Re, Au, Pb, Tl, Pd, Co, Ni). Small chelating ligands (diphosphines and diimines) have been prepared through conventional organic synthetic techniques and utilized in generating the complexes. Several of these chelating ligands have featured perfluoroalkyl subsituents and I have published in this area. Other publications feature metallocryptate complexes, their preparation and structural characterization and synthesis and characterization of biologically active Pt(II) complexes. Financial support for the work has been provided by Petroleum Research Fund, Research Corporation, American Cancer Society, UNLV, ISU, and the State of Idaho.
