SummaryAfter many years of promising myself that I would move back to the Navajo Reservation, I finally found my passion. I realized during nursing school, there was so much more I can be as an individual and becoming a nurse was just my first step. Now I was fortunate enough to have been a recipient of the American Indian Students United for Nursing Scholarship so with that, I have an obligation to any Indian Health Service facility. I considered many different facilities in Arizona but was not ready to settle until I was offered a position in Anchorage, Alaska.
I have been working with Arizona indigenous tribes for many years as a nurse, as Miss Indian ASU, as a friend and family member. I am very passionate about the prosperity of my people, the continuation of our traditions and the preservation of our language. But becoming a nurse was just an open door for me to continue my work with other indigenous tribes. I realized that my passion is more than just being a nurse but one that is able to learn and help the overall preservation of other indigenous tribes.
